I recently moved back to the Seattle area (Olympia) from New Hampshire and I've been building websites since 1997. Please note that I am open to relocation.
I have considerable web designer / CMS / graphics / developer / project manager / interface / support / usability / process documentation / seo experience and skills.
I bring a high degree of demonstrated creativity (artist > focusdesign.com/art) as well as a well developed and demonstrated tech/organizational side.
I have direct, recent 5 year experience working as a web designer/developer for a media company that owns newspapers and magazines.
I was employed as a FT Web designer/developer/project manager/graphics person at the Nashua Telegraph newspaper and other affiliates of the parent company, McLean Communications in Nashua, NH. This included newspapers in FL, PA and NH as well as a number of magazines. I began working at the Telegraph Jan 3, 2007 and left on good terms September 2012.
My capacity at the Telegraph included working with the family of websites / publications / staff that make up this division of McLean. I worked with the managers of the magazines/sites to determine all aspects of the design/redesign, build the prototypes, did user testing, coded the sites (CSS/XHTML, HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, database/cms integration) and then built them to completion.
I am particularly interested and focus on web site usability and user interaction. I also have built mobile sites, HTML newsletters and WordPress sites.
With all the sites I've worked on I helped shape both how the content was structured as well as written and formatted. I acted both as an editor and I wrote content when needed.
Currently I am acting as a part-time Associate Student Adviser at Evergreen College in Olympia for their student newspaper web presence.
